EE has partnered with HomeViews on this report to help increase awareness around sustainable solutions for new housing in the UK. And, given the importance of transparent supply chains, we’re also highlighting our achievements as a sustainable supplier to the industry, including our current use of 100% renewable electricity worldwide and 55% cut in carbon emissions intensity since 2016/17.

Our overarching goal at BT Group is to connect for good. This represents the ultimate goal for all our operations, and we’re committed to providing the property industry with connectivity products and services that match or exceed its own initiatives towards a fully sustainable future.

This report coincides with the launch of EE Personal WiFi, our new wi-fi product designed specifically for the needs of multi-tenanted sectors, such as Build to Rent, Student Accommodation and Housing Associations, and powered by 100% renewable electricity for elements up to the building.

Case Study: Release by David Philips

Recycling was the most important sustainable building feature to residents on HomeViews. We explore how David Phillips helped Build to Rent operator Get Living achieve zero-to-landfill for its furniture refurbishment.

UK residential furnishing specialist David Phillips worked with leading BTR operator Get Living on its refresh scheme for the East Village community in Stratford, refreshing, recycling and reusing furnishings to ensure no waste was sent to landfill. The scheme has proved so successful that David Phillips has scaled the programme and now offers it to all clients.

Case Study: Reducing thermal gains with InterLace Blinds

11% of HomeViews reviews mention issues around overheating – a percentage likely to increase given the regularity of severe heatwaves in the UK. Modern high-rise buildings with glass facades are especially prone to excessive thermal gains.

When specifying its luxurious Newfoundland building, Build to Rent operator Vertus turned to InterLace Blinds to help address this challenge while enhancing interior spaces and providing a high quality resident experience.

Case Study: Sustainable Homes at Orchard Field by Stonewood Homes

Sustainable construction was the least valued sustainable building feature among reviewers on HomeViews, but renewable energy was one of the most valued. In this case study we take a closer look at Orchard Field in Cirencester.

This hugely popular development combines renewables with highly efficient construction methods, and perfectly illustrates the need for consumer education on a more holistic approach to sustainable buildings.

We believe the best information about a residential development comes from the people living there. Owners and tenants have a lot of useful information to share with their prospective neighbours, not just on the property itself and its locality, but also on the development and building management.
